Chihuahuas on Wheels
Venus, Carmen and Pablo, chihuahua puppies living at the North Shore Animal League in New York, were born with a birth defect that deprived all three of front legs. Up until this week they’ve gotten around by hopping on their hind legs, which puts stress on the lower spine.
Carts were made for the puppies by Eddie’s Wheels in the Berkshire Mountains village of Shelburne Falls, in western Massachusetts. The carts are to be used for ten minutes at a stretch.
Normal in every other way, the pups seem unaware of their disability and have accepted the challenge of their new carts much as they did the challenge to learn to balance themselves on their back legs, the League said.
The puppies have been adopted by a North Shore Animal League veterinary technician.

I am delighted that Jennifer blogged about you! I didn’t know we had an animal companion blog on b5!
Our furkids show up regularly on my blog, as our furkids are such a big part of our lives. 2 dogs, 2 cats, 2 horses….. all adopted as rescues……..
and all are loved to pieces.
I would have adopted those little cart walking chi’s in a NY minute, as we have one chi/dachshund cross who is just a magical little guy. We adopted him after he was surrendered from a grim situation, and he’s come light years!

These puppies are so adorable - there’s a video of them in the link. We’ve got a chi and what we think is a rat terrior/chi mix. They’re the sweetest little things I’ve ever known!
I check out your blog as often as I can - I’ve been knitting since I was 12 and love seeing all the neat stuff you do!

If you want to see a pug puppy who has truly mastered her front wheel cart , check out “reinharts pug” on youtube. She’s jumping curbs, hiking off-road with a pack of dogs and is a great inspiration to all of us at Eddie’s Wheels to see how a dog born with deformed front legs can still have a real dog’s life!

Hi Leslie! I wasn’t able to find anything using “reinharts pug” but I did a general search and found a pug named Daisy who uses a front wheel cart - is that her? If so she’s adorable!
