It’s National Adopt-a-Shelter-Dog Month
October is National Adopt-A-Shelter-Dog Month and anyone looking to adopt a furry family member is being encouraged by the ASPCA and PetFinder.com to head to your local shelter.
This year has had an extreme impact on shelters across the nation as pets have become victims of the housing market crash, the spiraling economy and Mother Nature. There are currently more than 140,000 dogs listed on PetFinder.com, and over 300,000 adoptable pets total.
