New Member of the Family: Simon the Betta Fish
Meet Simon, the newest member of our family! He was originally intended to be a solstice present for the kids but after keeping him safely hidden away in our bedroom for the past week we brought him out and sat him on the kitchen counter for the girls to discover after brushing their teeth last night. I get as excited as they do about presents and surprises and we decided that being a couple of days early wouldn’t hurt anything!
The girls debated about a name for a little bit but decided on ‘Simon’ after a commercial for the Alvin and the Chipmunks movie came on. They’ve also put together a feeding chart outlining who gets to feed him each day.
Now, this isn’t to say I condone giving pets as gifts, but in giving him to our own kids we know that if they slack off on his care taking that it’ll be up to us, and we also knew that they really wanted a betta (especially the youngest, who talks about the betta in her classroom constantly).
