Pet of the Week: Rat

This week’s Pet of the Week is Rat:

This is “Rat” - the kitten that defied all odds. Neglected by her mom and raised in a basement that was having sewage issues - which caused all the animals to come down with a virus - she somehow survived, even though her three other siblings died. Tiny beyond words and black as night, I named her Rat because for a split second when any of the older cats saw her, they’d be startled momentarily and I assumed they thought she was a rat. (It would dawn on them that she was actually a teeny tiny kitten just as they were about to pounce.)
