~ Oregon woman teaches her cats to swim to safety in case of accidental pool slippage.

~ Woman Has Yard Full of Snapping Turtles. “They’re not very friendly to play with.”

~ Hairless Sphynx cats need love (and hoodies) too (the amusing part of the article is “He was being exhibited at a cat show over the weekend in the Almaty region of Kazakhstan – home of Sacha Baron Cohen’s famous comic creation Ali G.” Someone needs to do a little more basic pop culture homework there.)

~ “A surfer rode a wave on his stomach to rescue a struggling dog that had been swept off a pier and into Lake Michigan by a wave.”

~ Two-headed Tortoise Turns Ten

~ USA Today gives tips on how to plan for your pet’s welfare after you kick the bucket. Oprah has apparently already embraced this advice and will leave her dogs $30 million.

~ Alex, a smartypants 31-year-old African Grey parrot, dies. He also has a foundation named after him.

~ “A male chow mix laid down in the middle of a busy street this morning to keep watch over its companion, a female German shepherd mix, after it was hit and killed by a car on Chambers Road near East 52nd Avenue.” Yes, I teared up.

That article about the Chow standing watch was horribly written. They couldn’t decide which one was male and which one was female. Sheesh!

I did hear about this on the news last night. Poor dogs. :(
