RIP Starbuck

Our sweet little rattie girl, Starbuck, died tonight. She was two years and seven months old which is really quite remarkable for a pet rat. Though we don’t think it had anything to do with her death, she had developed a tumor under her left arm about six months ago and it got progressively bigger. The vet wouldn’t touch it because of her age but given our experience with past rats we knew she could still live a happy life, and she certainly did.
I think we’re done with the small pets for a little while though the husband has made mention of getting a snake. I’m not opposed to snakes as long as they stay somewhat small so I’m leaving that up to him.

Oh no! I’m so sorry to hear about her, Heather. I miss having rats. A few of mine had those tumors. They are very prone to them.
